Well naturally the more action equipment gets the faster it gets damaged, but inactives are in for rude awakening when they find their equipment completely tarnished when they come back (the idea is that smaller damage is cheaper per dmg_point to repair than if it was heavily damaged), since they are free pickings for getting attacked.

I'm feeling like inactives should be swept under the rug after a while. I already hide them from certain leaderboards and listings. I know that'll impact the swift kill list, but I don't know perhaps they shouldn't be so exposed.

Seems like a solvable problem though.

What players are currently hidden from the SKL, if that's info you can share? I know that inactive players outside of attack ranges are. Is there any specific reason for that?

I could be wrong, but I don’t think he’s saying they are hidden from the SKL, but rather things like the browse player page and maybe some of the various leaderboards.

I believe he’s saying if we do the item durability system that he might hide inactives from the SKL and such so they don’t come back to completely obliterated items.

Well yeah, I know they're missing from Browse Players. I was just curious about the SKL. Inactive players that are outside your attack range are hidden from the SKL even though you can attack them manually.

Yep, dont do the durability stuff. Its going to have a bigger impact than you think. Raids will be affected, so the ability to do anything along those line will be hampered. smaller players will potentially go broke trying to stay on top of keepingf their items alive. etc etc etc. what happens when people cant keep up with the durability?? yeah they dont play no more.

This is not a good move.

On the contrary, I think it'll just serve as another way to keep your account in top shape. There could be items that are very overpowered but not very durable. There could even be a use case for keeping "fresh" outfits to swap out, rather than now, where if you have more than one of a particular item it's of no use to you except trade.

Definitely needs some checks and balances though:
  • Don't have inactive players come back to destroyed accounts
  • Don't put people in a position where they can't afford to repair their items because they can't earn credits with said useless broken items
I've already implemented it though, so should at least give it a try, once I figure out the first attempt at price formula. I think I'll make some spreadsheets for a few alternatives and see what people think.
