lots of online games = lots of crappy, slow loading ads... adblock = much quicker...

Ours are in iframes to stop them slowing the load of pages.

However, consider this for a moment...

Websites cost money. People who don't directly send money to a website are clearly being used to fund a website through ad viewing.

Blocking adverts == not funding website.
So, in many cases, a person blocking ads is not paying for the content they use and modifying the way a site was intended to be displayed. I've heard people argue that it's theft.

Personally, I've never seen the need to block the ads. I do have Java disabled though, because a lot of crappy old sites I visit tend to use it for EVERYTHING. Now, that is annoying.
I also think that it's okay to manipulate html output to some extent. I wouldn't think twice about blocking images that annoyed me on a site, or a stupid background sound.

Still, it's a reasonable amount of extra funding for only a minor inconvenience.
On this site, almost all funding comes from Points and Preferred Player, but for those who don't support the game at all, helping it out by allowing a couple of ads to load is the least that they can do

see i'm typically fine with ads.. like if you had ads i'd leave them, but on a game like outwar where they have 50,000 players on 5 servers with people who spend over $10,000 a year on it (i know one guy who spent $18,000 so far this year), and hundreds of players spending a couple hundred dollars, with only idk.. 8 administrators... they don't need the money.  one of the admins recently built himself an absolutely mammoth of a summer house on a lake--they don't need ads to help support themselves.

as for my problem with the captcha... it's the same whether i have adblock disabled or not.  very infrequent, but it still happens.

Yeh, I know what you mean. They don't need the money. There's a handful of them working on Outwar. They mustn't be doing very much though, as it's barely changed in years
